All Very Good Points: The Onyx Hotel, Boston Review
On my last trip, I got stuck at DCA flying to Boston and had to call the Onyx to let them know that I wouldn't be arriving until the following morning around 6am. They were sold out, so the very helpful agent checked me in over the phone to ensure I had a room when I arrived. After a very long night with little sleep, I arrived in Boston and made my way to the Onyx. Upon check-in, the desk agent said "I'm very sorry, but we don't have any deluxe rooms available, since you're only here for 1 night now, we had to upgrade you to a King Premier Room with an attached Parlor Suite on our Penthouse level". Sorry? Wow, what a nice surprise! Simply put, I love to travel. There’s nothing about travel I don’t enjoy. I love to take amazing vacations and most of all - I LOVE my points, miles and status! Yes, I said it, I love my status. For the past 6 years I've been traveling for business and I've become known among my friends as the point person (cliché, I know). When it comes to earning points and finding new ways to enjoy them, I’m writing the book on it. I’m about to reach 1 million miles for the 2nd time in 6 years. I currently have Platinum status with US Airway, Starwood and Marriott. In 2010 I flew more than 120 flight segments and had over 200 hotel nights – not a record year. My favorites: US Air (everyone wants to know why! I choose USAir because of their frequent flyer program – not because they have old planes, no in-flight video, etc … but because they have the most generous rewards and most liberal partner redemption program.) Starwood is my favorite hotel chain – I love Le Meridian and the W for vacation. For business , Sheraton, Westin and the newer Element fit my budget. National Car Rental is my pick because you can’t beat the Emerald Aisle. Happy Traveling!
