Three we like: Music this weekend: Dehlia Low, Big House Radio ...
The victory garnered prominence across the region and was a coup for the band, which has three members hailing from Bryson City, one from Sylva and one from Waynesville.
Big House Radio’s free performance runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m., and is the 12th in a 15-week series of Friday concerts at the Bridge Park Pavilion beside Scott Creek in downtown Sylva.
“Concerts on the Creek is such a great treat for us because we get to play to our friends and community in a beautiful setting,” says lead singer Tommy Dennison of Sylva. “The stage is great and we are very fortunate to have a community that supports local music.”
Big House Radio will play a set consisting of all original songs. Dennison describes the band’s sound as “original rock and roll music with a crowd-pleasing groove. BHR is deeply rooted in Southern rock, funk and blues.”
Dennison’s band mates are: bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Redman of Waynesville, guitarist Aaron Planterberg of Bryson City, drummer Josh Mason of Bryson City, and vocalist Jeremy Hyatt of Bryson City.

Die-hard fans of the Bridge Park music series will remember Dehlia Low from a couple of years back. The Asheville-based band wanders west again tomorrow for an “Appalachian Evening” show at the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center.
Dehlia Low’s vocal harmony and instrumentation reflect a deep connection to traditional music with modern arrangements and relevant, smart songwriting. The band combines their gripping, rustic-flavored vocal style with extraordinary instrumental prowess in original songs that feel at once both old and new pushing their sound into the emerging Americana genre. Dehlia Low echoes the sounds of early country with a strong bluegrass flavor, crafting a fresh originality that feels true to their southern Appalachian roots. Their performance will feature music from their newly released CD ‘Ravens and Crows’.
