Save Yammi Review

Save Yammi is a puzzle game that at first glance looks just like other popular puzzle games on the app store. Don’t let the looks fool you. The game packs more into it than what it seems. The objective is to feed the cookie to Yammi. In order to get him to eat the cookie you have to collect three Yellow Stars before he will open his mouth. Sounds simple enough right? Well at first it is that simple but as you progress through the levels it gets harder and more obstacles get in your way of feeding Yammi. So as well as different things that get in your way you are also given things to help you accomplish your goal. You have a limited spool of rope that you are given in each level to use to roll, bounce and catch the cookie and save it so you can get it to yammi. As well as the rope there are several different power ups that appear in different levels to help you out as well. Some of the power ups are optional while for the most part you will need them to get the cookie to Yammi. For instance in some levels there is a lighting cloud that will stand in your way and if the cookie touches it its game over. So the power up to help you get past this is a shield that you have to maneuver the cookie to so you can get past the cloud. The graphics in Save Yammi are what you would expect from a cartoon show. Nice vibrant colors that pop with the retina display on the iphone 4. The characters and animations of objects in levels are unique and have there own characteristics that bring each level to life.

You will use touch controls and the gyroscope to play this game. This is what sets it apart from other similar puzzle games is its physics and the way you use both sets of controls. For instance the way you draw the rope on the screen will play a part in how the cookie will roll or bounce. Tilting the iphone in certain directions will cause the cookie to roll in that direction. The controls are easy to get used to and any one can jump in and get the hang of things right away. Over all Save Yammi is a fun game that any one can enjoy. The game packs plenty of replay value with the addition of trophies for Game Center and OpenFeint. With different ways to complete each level as well as getting bonuses for collecting the extra red stars and using less rope you are sure to have plenty to come back to in this game. The games has easy levels as well as levels that will have you pulling your hair out trying to figure it out. For $.

The graphics are adorable—little pixel bit-drawn characters called “bitizens,” a nice nod to old school Nintendo games, and this one also smacks familiarly of “Elevator Action,” an equally addictive game which appeared in the '80s.

Zombie Rider Android Game Review by AndroidTapp.com | Android Tapp ...

The planet is, thankfully, yet to be taken over by a Zombie apocalypse, but that seemingly doesn’t apply to the Android Market. Pick most genres of games and you will probably find a  ’Zombie’ equivalent. Subsequently there is a huge selection of titles based on the brain-thirsty undead. Typically the games available for Zombie fans can go from good to bad, and always hideously ugly! Thankfully, Zombie Rider is definitely one of the good and is a well developed and fun game with superb graphics, addictive

You control your Zombie’s Harley Davidson chopper as he blazes his putrid and rotting corpse across Route 66. There are 3 different levels, each containing 8 stages of utter mayhem. The stages are timed, and your total time is also listed. The aim of the game is to reach the end of the stage as fast as you can. The landscapes are terrifying, with gorges, valleys and all kinds of challenging terrain to traverse. Get your route wrong and things go quite bad as your Zombie gets completely wiped out in spectacular fashion! Thankfully, as he’s a zombie, he can just get up again and get back on his bike to start again. There is additionally a time-trial mode where you can race any of the stages, perhaps for practice- or just to get the fastest time possible.

You control the game by tilting your phone to balance out the bike, pressing the right side of the screen to accelerate and the left side to brake and reverse. Obviously the acceleration is very important to get a good time, but sometimes hitting the gas isn’t the best way to overcome the stage and caution is required to get it right. With a bit of practice most levels can be completed, but it will take some skill, dexterity and patience to get a faster time. Subsequently, and especially for fans of these kind of games, it becomes very addictive as you complete the stages as fast as possible.

The graphics are really good, with stunning visual backdrops, well designed and beautiful terrains and one cool bike! Complimenting this, the sound is also impressive; thumping rock music in the background, guttural engine throbbing as you accelerate and sickening crash noises when things go badly wrong.

The only significant issues I found with Zombie Rider were related to the game view itself. There are some areas where you literally cannot see either your Zombie or the terrain below on the screen

This small problem aside the game is a hugely competent platforming racer with a funny Zombie twist. The inclusion of ongoing times and stages mean, almost like a rally, you have to complete the levels as fast as possible. This in turn creates an addictive and engrossing environment. Getting stages right- as fast and as smoothly as possible- is a massive rush and very rewarding. Gamers who are familiar with these kind of racing games, or even those new to the genre, should equally enjoy the experience. If you enjoyed Turbo Grannies, this should be a superb new challenge to get stuck into.
