Graeters to make all ice cream at new Cincinnati plant
Graeters Manufacturing Co. is shifting all of its ice cream production to its new facility on Regina Graeter Way in Cincinnati.
“The Regina Graeter Way facility is fully up to speed, operating two 40-hour shifts per week, and it’s time to consolidate production as originally planned,” said President and CEO Richard Graeter , in a news release. “The facility is ready to support our growing wholesale distribution to 4,000 grocery stores in 41 states.”
Graeter’s facilities on Reading and Bethel roads will remain open, but the consolidation will eliminate about 20 full-time jobs, according to the release. The Reading Road plant will continue to make ice cream cakes, pies, bakery items, candy and sorbets. The Bethel facility will produce ice cream cakes, pies and toppings as well as house a retail storefront, distribution operations and administrative offices.
Richard Graeter announced plans to build the new 28,000 square foot production plant on Regina Graeter Way in 2009 as part of a larger plan to expand its brand nationally. The plant, which has quadrupled the company’s ability to make ice cream, opened a year later.
