Could your son or daughter be the next golfing great to come out of Northern Ireland?

Since the National Lottery began, over £9.4 million of Lottery funds have been awarded to Northern Ireland sports bodies – big and small - including £1.8 million in a variety of golf projects across the country, helping to produce talented young golfers like Rory McIlroy.

To keep the family entertained in the final few weeks of the summer holidays, now is a great time to take advantage of these facilities and get the kids excited about following in their hero’s footsteps.

Paul Mullan from the National Lottery Forum in Northern Ireland says: “Thanks to National Lottery funding every town in Northern Ireland boasts superb sports venues and open spaces for the whole family to enjoy this summer.”

For those hoping to emulate their hero’s success this summer, a variety of golf clubs across Northern Ireland have received Lottery funding.

Rory McIlroy fans can get down to the Holywood Golf Club, which has also benefited from Lottery funding towards the refurbishment of locker rooms and changing facilities. During the summer, Holywood Golf Club ran a number of summer camps which develop a young person’s agility, balance, co-ordination and a range of other physical skills that are needed to succeed in golf and other sports, see www.holywoodgolfclub.co.uk

If golf is not your thing, thanks to over £846 million of Lottery funding invested in projects across Northern Ireland, there is a park, a museum, theatre, cycling trail or sports event near you to keep the whole family entertained this summer.

Paul Mullan adds: “Every time you buy a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard, money is invested into a wide range of projects which the whole family can enjoy, including the Titanic Dry Dock and Pump House in Belfast.
